This museum showcases the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the Shetland Islands, where knitting and weaving have been a way of life for centuries. You will see stunning examples of traditional and contemporary textiles, from intricate lace shawls to colorful Fair Isle sweaters.
You will also learn about the history and culture of the people who created these beautiful works of art, and how they adapted to the harsh and remote environment of the North Atlantic. The museum is housed in a historic building that was once a fishing station, and has been lovingly restored to preserve its original features.
You can also enjoy the scenic views of the sea and the hills from the museum's garden, where you can relax and admire the flowers and plants that grow in this region. It is a place where you can discover, explore, and be inspired by the creativity and skill of the Shetland Islanders.
Wheelchair access to the ground floor only.
