The Jorvik Viking Centre is a museum and visitor attraction in York, England, that recreates the Viking age in the city. The museum is located on the site of a former Viking settlement, where archaeologists discovered thousands of artefacts and remains of buildings. Visitors can experience the sights, sounds and smells of Viking York as they travel through realistic scenes in carriages equipped with speakers.
The museum also displays some of the most significant finds from the excavation, such as the Silverdale Hoard, a collection of silver jewellery and coins.
The museum is part of the Jorvik Group, which also includes other attractions related to York's history and archaeology.
Wheelchair and mobility scooter users must pre-book. Only one wheelchair may be inside the Centre at any one time.
