Threave Garden and Nature Reserve is a beautiful and diverse place to visit in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland, and it offers something for everyone.
You can explore the different styles of gardening in the various 'garden rooms', such as the rose garden, the rockery and the walled garden. You can also admire the Scottish Baronial style of Threave House, which dates back to 1871 and displays some rooms as they were in the 1930s.
You can enjoy stunning views over the Galloway Hills and the Ken/Dee valley, and watch for wildlife such as ospreys, red kites, peregrine falcons and bats. Threave is also the only Scottish garden dedicated to the training of horticulturists, and it has a plant centre where you can buy some of the plants grown on site.
Threave Garden and Nature Reserve is open all year round, with different opening hours depending on the season. It is located near Castle Douglas, about 1 mile west of the A75, and it is well-signposted from every direction.
