OPENING TIMES

The Painted Hall, Chapel & Visitor Centre

Daily | 10am-5pm

We run talks throughout the day in the Painted Hall as well as daily tours that are all included in the price of your ticket; simply join a tour on the day.

On selected Fridays and Saturdays during July and August the Painted Hall will be open until 8pm.

CLOSURES

When we are hosting special events, we sometimes need to close areas early. Any early or partial closures will be published on our website in advance.

TICKET PRICES

Tickets for the Painted Hall give you unlimited re-entry for a whole year. Simply register your details when you book (either online or at the Visitor Centre) to convert your day ticket to an annual pass.

We are pleased to offer concessionary rates to students and job-seekers plus serving personnel and veterans of the the Armed Forces. Book online to save money.

Adults: £13.50/£12.50 online

Children age 16 and under: Free (with accompanying adult)

Royal Navy serving personnel: Free

National Art Pass Holder: £6.75

Groups of 10 or more people: £10.50 per person

Carers accompanying a person with a disability: Free

Concessions: £8.50/£7.50 online (Students, Jobseekers, Armed Forces Serving Personnel, Veterans)

Discover the Old Royal Naval College, a spectacular UNESCO World Heritage site in the heart of maritime Greenwich, London. Its magnificent architecture by Sir Christopher Wren and beautiful riverside setting reveal an extraordinary 500-year history not to be missed. Among many attractions, experience ‘Britain’s Sistine Chapel’, Sir James Thornhill’s magnificent Baroque masterpiece – the Painted Hall.

Throughout the year, we offer a range of free family activities, which include Storytelling inspired by the amazing artwork in the Painted Hall, Make History creative arts sessions, History in Action drama and movement workshops. Meet the Past Sundays invite families to chat to 17th and 18th Century artists, sailors, architects and even the occasional pirate. In the school holidays, we run a range of family activities which include music workshops, science activities, trails and history sessions. In addition to free site trails for children, our Sea Explorer Activity Bags are free for children to use as they make their way around the Painted Hall.

This August, our family activities will be taking place midweek. Join us for some traditional lawn games with a naval pensioner and nurse, have a go at our weekly family challenges, or enjoy creative astronomy activities and storytelling sessions with author Tom Kerss. All of our summer programme is free, so pop along and have some fun!
