More Information

Highams Park encompasses 28 acres nestled just east of the serene Highams Park Lake, accessible via entrances on Tamworth Avenue, Henry’s Avenue, and Keynsham Avenue, as well as stiles from the adjoining Epping Forest. Throughout the year, residents and visitors alike flock to the park to revel in its tranquility. They amble along its winding paths, play with children in the playground nestled along the western edge, and bask in the lush greenery while gazing across the park towards the forest and lake.

From its highest vantage point, glimpses of London's skyline grace the horizon, adding to the park's allure. Maintained by Waltham Forest Council, Highams Park serves as a cherished community space.

Within the park, Humphry’s Café at the Tamworth Avenue entrance beckons with delicious fare and conveniences for park-goers. The park also serves as a vibrant venue for cultural events and performances, orchestrated by an active Friends group. From the beloved Spring Festival to the lively September Picnic in the Park, residents and visitors gather in the thousands to partake in the festivities, which include performances, culinary delights, and engaging games.

Despite the bustling activity, Highams Park remains a haven for wildlife, with open grasslands and stands of mature trees providing a sanctuary for diverse species. From the playful antics of squirrels to the melodious songs of songbirds, the park teems with life, while recent additions of wildflower meadows further enhance its ecological richness, attracting vital pollinators like butterflies and bees.
