More Information

If you are looking for a historic house with a fascinating story, a beautiful park with stunning views, and a variety of events and activities for all ages, then look no further than Delapré Abbey in Northampton!

Delapré Abbey is a neo-classical mansion that was once a medieval nunnery, founded in 1145 by Simon de Senlis, Earl of Northampton. The nuns lived here for over 400 years, until Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries in 1538. The abbey then became a private residence for several wealthy families, who added their own touches and extensions to the original building.

The abbey also witnessed one of the most important battles of the Wars of the Roses in 1460, when the Yorkists defeated the Lancastrians on the nearby fields. Today, you can explore 900 years of history at Delapré Abbey, from the nuns' cloister to the Victorian boudoir.

You can also enjoy the beautiful gardens and parkland, which feature a walled garden, an orangery, a rose garden and a lake. You can also join one of the many events and activities that take place throughout the year, such as tours, exhibitions, workshops, festivals and more.

Delapré Abbey is a hidden gem that will delight and surprise you with its rich history and charm. Come and visit us soon and discover it for yourself!
