More Information

Cople Pits were developed through gravel digging in the 1930s. While the spits of land between the eleven small pits turned into hawthorn and willow scrub, the eleven little pits filled with water and became home to a variety of aquatic species. The portion closest to the road had recently been filled up and covered with subsoil before the Trust got involved. Due to the fact that it has now become grassed over and is home to a variety of wildflowers, tourists may now enjoy this area much more.
