Bamburgh Castle has a long and rich history that dates back to the 6th century, when it was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Bernicia. It has been besieged, destroyed, rebuilt, and restored many times over the centuries, and has witnessed some of the most important events in British history. It was also the home of William Armstrong, a visionary engineer and inventor who bought the castle in 1894 and transformed it into a modern marvel.
You can explore the stunning rooms and halls filled with art and artefacts, learn about the fascinating stories and legends that surround the castle, enjoy the breathtaking views of the coast and countryside, and discover the wildlife and nature that live on our grounds.
We are open every day from 10am to 5pm (last admission at 4pm) and you can buy your tickets online or at the gatehouse. We also offer guided tours, events, weddings, and private hire for special occasions. You can find more information on our website or follow us on social media for updates and news.
